Our training programme is founded on our decades-long history of providing specialist sexual violence services in London and is delivered by accredited, front-line support practitioners.

We offer specialist training to both statutory and voluntary agencies as well as private companies.

Multi-agency

Our training is discussion-based and aims to empower professionals to engage with the lived realities of sexual violence for survivors.
We understand that in any training group, survivors of sexual violence may be present, and we take our responsibility to be trauma-informed very seriously. All our trainers have experience in frontline practice, and we are available to support anyone who may need a confidential place to talk before, during, or after our training.

Structure
Full day. CPD certified.
Who it’s for
Any organisation that may come into contact with sexual violence as part of their work.
What is covered
— The myths and realities surrounding sexual violence and the effect they may have on survivors
— What the law says
— Impacts and responses to sexual violence
— Our best-practice model for responding to disclosures and supporting survivors of sexual violence, including where to signpost survivors for specialist support

Key principles in responding to sexual violence
Structure
Half day.
Who it’s for
Suitable for any organisation that may come into contact with sexual violence as part of their work.
What is covered
— This shorter version of our full-day course will cover myths and realities around sexual violence
— Basic legal definitions with a focus on consent
— Key principles of our best practice model for responding to disclosures and supporting survivors

Understanding and responding to young people’s lived experiences of sexual violence
Structure
Full day or half day.
Who it’s for
Youth professionals.
What is covered
— We introduce our model of best practice for supporting survivors, with a focus on developing an awareness of young people’s lived experiences of sexual violence
— The dynamics of image-based sexual abuse
— Our key principles for delivering effective sexual violence prevention education for young people

Structure
90-120 minutes.
Who it’s for
Organisations seeking an introduction to sexual violence or to RCSL’s work.
What is covered
— Our awareness briefings or webinars may cover key definitions and concepts related to sexual violence and support services, or may have a more specific focus, depending on your organisation’s context and needs

Understanding and responding to image-based sexual abuse
Half day. CPD certified.
Structure
Who it’s for
Can be tailored to professionals working with adults or with young people.
What is covered
— As image-based sexual abuse is becoming increasingly prevalent, the law and best practice guidance in this area is quickly developing. The training explains the different types of behaviours that constitute image-based sexual abuse and the contexts in which this is perpetrated
— An overview of what the law says, the impacts for survivors, and key principles for a best-practice response
Is there a cost?
Where funding permits, we can offer training for free to schools, local authorities and smaller community organisations across South London. If funding is not available, or outside of South London, we charge a fee plus travel costs for in-person training.
Concessionary rates are available for local authorities and smaller charities.

Training for individuals
We sometimes offer ‘open’ training sessions, which individual practitioners may join.
