Get involved. Help shape and improve our services to better support survivors.

what Survivor
Voices does

Ensuring that we respond to the needs of the women who use our services in the best way we can is critical to our mission.

To achieve this, we created Survivor Voices—a space for women who have used RCSL’s services to share insights, take part in decision-making, and help shape our work.

Involvement as a Survivor Voices Member can include but is not limited to:

The development of the organisation’s strategy

Any future brand re-design

Service development

Opportunities to connect with other women who share similar experiences in a supportive space

what members say about
the Survivor Voices:

  • "This is a group of women who, quite simply, want to help guide and support"

"I joined Survivor Voices after many years of incredible professional support from RCSL. This is a group of women who, quite simply, want to help guide and support the strategic policies and changes within the organisation.  We meet in person and online every few months where we have superb discussions about our past experiences and how these can impact future decisions (whether strategic or otherwise) in the organisation.  I consider this group to be 'The voice of survivors' who only have one focus in mind... making the service better for victims who need it in the future’.  I am honoured to be part of this group of incredible women and hope our input will only continue to strengthen over the years.”

  • "I wanted to give something back to an organisation that had supported me, helped me to heal, and enabled me to grow"

"I joined Survivor Voices after a year of individual counselling and several months of group therapy. I wanted to give something back to an organisation that had supported me, helped me to heal, and enabled me to grow into a calmer person with a better understanding of myself and my behaviour. I was helped by RCSL in my 40s, even though my experience of sexual violence was when I was 14. It's never too late to work on yourself.”

  • "I have continued to feel supported among a wonderful group of women"

“In the meetings of Survivor Voices, which are sometimes in-person and sometimes online, I have continued to feel supported among a wonderful group of women, while being able to contribute to decision-making about the future of the organisation. I think it's important that survivors are involved in the policies, strategies and service design of the organisation as we have an in-depth understanding of the effects of sexual violence and what might be triggering or upsetting for potential clients. Our meetings are always lively, sometimes intense, and are definitely good for the soul.”
