BREAKING

THE SILENCE

1 in 4 women have been raped or sexually assaulted in their lifetime.

5 in 6 survivors of sexual
violence
never report it.

we need to raise £10,000 to fund specialist, trauma-informed training, advocacy, and counselling for survivors.

While the world sings silent night, silence is anything but peaceful for survivors of sexual violence.

Sexual violence lives quietly in homes, workplaces, and relationships — and this season, too many women are carrying trauma alone, holding truths they’ve been forced to keep silent. This winter, we’re breaking that silence.

WHAT WE’RE DOING TO HELP

Breaking the silence is how we turn trauma into truth, and truth into action. At Rape Crisis South London we create spaces where survivors feel believed, supported and free to speak — while calling out the culture that keeps them quiet.

We need funding to keep our services free and accessible to survivors. This is how your donation can support us:

  • Breaking silence doesn’t have to be loud; sometimes it starts with just one person.

Our free, trauma-informed talking therapy gives survivors the space to speak their truth without fear of being disbelieved and heal from the harm.

£75 could offer in-person tailored, talking therapy to a survivor

£95 could support group therapy, providing community and support to survivors of sexual violence.

  • Ending sexual violence starts with education — and with the courage to have difficult conversations.

Our training and prevention programmes work with schools, universities and workplaces to challenge rape myths, shift attitudes and dismantle the systems that allow sexual violence to persist.

£295 enables state schools, non-profits and community organisations to access sexual violence prevention training at no or subsidised costs.

Smaller donations support the development of training resources, facilitator time, and the long-term sustainability of our prevention work.

  • Through our activism, campaigns, and communications, we amplify survivor voices and demand change — in culture, in policy and in everyday conversation.

Where survivors contribute their time, insight or lived experience — we work to ensure participation is voluntary, supported and, where appropriate, paid.

£25 could cover the cost of facilitating focus group participation with survivors, always ensuring we are survivor-informed as an organisation

  • When survivors do speak out, they are often met with disbelief, delay and complexity. Our advocacy services help survivors navigate the criminal justice system and other institutions — from reporting to the police, to court processes, housing, healthcare and safety planning.

£36 can fund an hour of specialist advocacy support, helping a survivor understand their options, feel less alone, and make informed decisions at a time when control has been taken from them.

  • We support survivors of sexual violence from as young as four, who may not always be able to put their trauma into words. For them, breaking the silence begins with access to safe, age-appropriate ways to communicate their experiences.

£10 could provide essential sensory supplies for play therapy craft activities.
