HISTORY
Rape Crisis South London was launched in 1985 as part of a Women's Aid project, providing professional support to survivors of sexual violence.
In 2001 we became an independent charity based in Croydon, under the name Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre (RASASC).
In December 2024, we changed our name to Rape Crisis South London — the only Rape Crisis Centre in England and Wales solely focused on sexual violence.

We are a feminist organisation. We view gender inequality as both a cause and a consequence of violence against women and girls, and we recognise that every survivor's experience of abuse, and of seeking support, is shaped by their own position in the world.
We are committed to anti-racist and anti-oppressive practice, and we challenge unequal power dynamics in our work and beyond. Too often, survivors are not given the care they deserve. Trauma-informed care through empowerment sits at the heart of everything we do. In 2021, we became signatories to the VAWG Anti-Racism Charter. Anti-Racism Charter.

We support survivors across all twelve boroughs. Our main centre is in Croydon (female-only), with satellite locations in Bexley, Greenwich, Kingston Upon Thames, Lambeth, Southwark and Wandsworth.
