Supporting survival: a big give campaign
Survival is lifelong. Support should be too.
Sexual violence affects women and girls on a devastating scale. In England and Wales, more than 1 in 4 women aged 16 and over have experienced sexual assault since the age of 16, while almost 1 in 7 women experienced sexual abuse during childhood.
Behind every statistic is an individual whose experience, needs and journey are different.
This October, Rape Crisis South London is Supporting Survival as part of the Big Give’s Women & Girls Match Fund. At the heart of our campaign is a simple fact: survival does not begin and end at the point of violence.
The impact of rape and childhood sexual abuse can be felt in many different ways over time, and there is no single point at which someone may need (or no longer need) support.
Life changes, relationships, becoming a parent or memories resurfacing can all bring different nees for support. That is why Supporting Survival is about being there whenever a survivor is ready.
Our services are designed to respond to those different needs — including specialist counselling and therapeutic support, services for children and young people, independent advocacy and casework, and prevention work to stop it happening in the first place.
From 6 October until midday on 13 October, donations made to our Supporting Survival campaign through the Big Give Women & Girls Match Fund can be matched at no extra cost to you.
